Upcoming Workshop Series
The Vancouver Chapter is planning a series of 3 workshops designed to address challenges that many women with Turner Syndrome experience in the workplace. These workshops have arisen from the one we had last year that explored the nature of the challenges. Included with this edition of Small Talk is a poster and registration form advertising the first of the workshops entitled "Dealing with Anxiety in the Workplace". The second workshop will be held at the end of January/early February 2011 and is described below (once date set, more information will be sent out). The workshops are designed to address the particular issues that arise for women with Turner Syndrome, whether they are already in the workplace, contemplating job opportunities or simply dealing with these issues in everyday life. Teens with TS and their parents may find these workshops helpful as young women are preparing to enter the workplace and choosing career options.
Work Series Workshop #2: SETTING BOUNDARIES & LEARNING ANTI-BULLY SKILLS
Do you sometimes feel picked on, intimidated, manipulated, taken advantage of, or harassed? Boundaries are limits that help us say yes or no, define our time, protect our bodies and our rights and help us balance our needs along those of others. We all need to take responsibility for our own thoughts, feelings, & behavior to have healthy relationships. Without good boundaries, we become anxious, confused, depressed, wary of relationships and resentful and we learn to put up walls. This affects our self esteem, relationships, and careers. Learn strategies and resources for understanding and improving your boundaries, especially with bullies. Learn key strategies to prevent being targeted by bullies by learning how to read people, use body language, set limits, and use deflection techniques.
